Ed Koch

Ed Koch has a 30-year history of entrepreneurship and has been the founder and chief technology officer (CTO) of numerous successful companies. Ed has extensive experience developing and standardizing secure protocols and communications in critical Smart Grid infrastructures. He developed the demand-response (DR) communications protocols, currently used by utilities worldwide, for remotely communicating with customers’ facility management systems, automating their consumption of electricity. Ed chaired the committee that developed the OpenADR protocol and was personally responsible for drafting significant portions of that international standard. He helped found the OpenADR Alliance and sat on their board of directors. In addition, Ed has published countless journal and conference papers and holds over 25 patents.
